Introducing Specialist Skills in Demolition

McCormack Demolition are working with Graham-Bam Healthcare Partnership on the Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital’s new maternity unit. Both companies teamed up to deliver a Careers in Construction AND Demolition event to local children. The workshop was specifically aimed at young girls aged 10 to 13 years participating in a local summer scheme.

The girls enjoyed using games and building blocks to explore the challenge of removing an existing building from a confined space in order to accommodate the new construction. This gave the girls the opportunity to identify skills required to plan, prepare and deliver a major development project within the boundary of a busy hospital in its city centre location.

The benefits included:

  • Early engagement with school children
  • Introducing construction career choices to girls
  • Problem solving
  • Team Building Skills
  • Time Management Skills
  • Diversity within the Industry
