Journey Time Monitoring

This project utilises journey time monitoring by displaying journey times in three areas of the project to inform road users of any delays.

Data is collected via crowd sourced data by analysing GPS determined locations communicated through mobile phones and satellite navigation users. The software displays the actual journey time information in real time to variable messaging signs on the road network, it issues alerts to the project team on delays and gathers average journey times across any period accurate to 1 minute intervals.

Consultations were held with the Traffic Management Forum and the positions for measuring and displaying data were developed, discussed and best locations agreed.
