It is essential that every site gives careful consideration to its potential impact on the natural environment.
As part of the environmental plan, there should be safe working practices for dealing with hazardous waste, to ensure that it is stored, handled and transported correctly.
All COSHH items are allocated a simple code number which is fixed to all containers of the COSHH material.
The same number is attached to the materials COSHH data sheet, two identical files of the data sheets are maintained on site, one for the COSHH store and one kept with the Emergency Response Plan.
So if there is a spill or ingestion of COSHH material the information is readily available for reference or to take to the hospital for medical guidance.
This important COSHH information is included in the site induction for all new personnel.
