Kone Deck

During a staged lift installation, a temporary deck needs to be installed to allow the installation of the lifting beams. The normal process is for the deck to be removed and the lifting kits to be hung from the beams, from the outside of the shaft with a long drop. This causes a working at height risk and an additional cost to re-install the deck for the lifting beams to be removed.

At The Madison, we built the decks with strategically positioned holes that can be uncovered to allow the kit to hang through. The holes are covered during the installation of the lifting beams and are then uncovered once the kits are hung and ready to protrude down the shaft.

This measure allowed:

  • Safer access, eliminating the working at height risk by providing a safe working platform
  • A cost saving as the deck only needs to be installed once
  • Programme surety as an interface between two trades has been removed
