Leeds Big Sleep

12 Colleagues from Sisk, WSP and Leeds City Council spent a night under the stars at Headingley Rugby Stadium to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice, St George’s Crypt and Leeds Rhino’s foundation. The event, called the Leeds Big Sleep, raised over £35,000 for these important charities in the city, with the Sisk team contributing over £2,000 towards the total.

Project manager Peter Dawson took part in the event and said:

“I feel incredibly proud of everyone who gave up their creature comforts for the evening to raise awareness and funds for these charities around the city. On this particularly cold night, it brought home the hardship that homeless people have to suffer every day.”

The charities who will receive the funds are:

• St Gemma’s Hospice: a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses. It is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK that provides free-of-charge care and is open to patients of all beliefs, religions and cultures.
• St George’s Crypt: a homeless shelter and care centre that has been working with homeless and vulnerable people since 1930 and serves almost 750 three-course meals every week to those in need.
• Leeds Rhinos Foundation: this organisation works with some of the city’s most disadvantaged people by using the power of sport to inspire positive changes in their lives.
