Liaising with the Local Community

By a site supporting the local community, it should form good relations with residents and businesses alike; giving a good first and enduring impression.

As a means of supporting the local community, a Contracts Manager or an RLO (Resident Liaison Officer) can be proactive by:

  • Identifying, facilitating and supporting community events, especially for the disadvantaged;
  • Arranging the employment of a young man, previously long-term unemployed; as part of the site team;
  • Advertising site vacancies on the external Community Noticeboard and offering assistance with CV writing;
  • Providing all residents with information on currently available Government energy saving initiatives (as well as relevant telephone and website details) including leaflets on energy and money saving.

By offering employment to a local resident, the site can be seen to be giving something back to the community in which it is working and in this way, is also supporting the local economy.
