Lightbulb moment to help save the planet

Kier is committed to minimising its impact on the environment and has introduced several initiatives in its main site offices on the A13 Road Widening Project to help reduce its carbon footprint.

Once such idea involved switching halogen and sodium bulbs in the main site offices (a former car showroom) to LED technology and installing infra-red sensors to ensure that lighting is only on when needed.

By doing this, the project’s contractor has reduced energy consumption by 1900KWh per week. That’s enough to power an average-sized home for six months!
