Live floater indicator

The rail industry poses its own set of unique challenges and hazards within construction that require alternative management techniques.

A member of our site team has personally invented a live ‘floater’ indicator – this is essentially a safety device exclusive to the railway industry and wholly evidenced on the supplied documentation and photos.

Specialised railway equipment includes a warning shield for live rail ‘’floaters’’ which helps keep the current live for trains that are running on adjacent lines.

It acts as a visual warning to staff that there is a potential electrical hazard. When no electricity is running the system defaults to the floaters being live in the work area. It is designed and made from recycling materials already on site and when installed, the integral LED lights flash continuously. It replaces a Current Rail Indicator Device (CRID) – this was banned from use by Network Rail 5 years ago and its replacement is both best practice and innovative.
