Local school visit for disabled students

During the Month of July, Westleigh were approached by DGS Academy in Hinckley to arrange a visit on to our site in Hinckley. The DGS Academy provide education to young students with varying levels of disability from the ages of 11 to 17 years. With the site at varying levels of progress we had to ensure that all areas could accommodate the use of wheel chairs and be safe underfoot.

The visit was part of the DGS Academy Work Experience Week and lasted on site for approximately 3 hours. We were available to provide a full overview of the build process from foundations to fully painted plots.

It was a great insight for the students as each trade was prepared to discuss their work on site. We found with varying the trades and each giving a small talk, the students’ attention was given for the whole visit.

As the students were very keen, another visit has been arranged for December/ January so they have a chance to see the site completed with roads and landscaping finished.
