Lollipop traffic marshal

Increased traffic on routes around site accompany construction activity. If this is not managed effectively, additional vehicles will lead to disruption and frustration amongst neighbours.

Aside from potential complaints, sites must consider road safety and raise awareness amongst drivers and the public.

Effective safety measures and emergency procedures should be in place to protect the workforce, road users, cyclists and pedestrians.

This site put the following safety measure in place to protect the public around site:

  • Resident disruption was minimised around construction routes, by the appointment of a lollipop traffic marshal;
  • This marshal was used during particularly busy times, such as school hours.
