London’s first Construction Consolidation Centre Directory Published

The first directory of construction consolidation centres in the London area has been published by Transport for London (TfL) on Friday 18 March.

The directory provides essential information – including locations and operating hours – of the Capital’s construction consolidation centres.

Construction consolidation centres allow more efficient deliveries by organising materials and directing fewer vehicles to specific construction sites, helping to reduce construction costs and improve the roads for all.

TfL is working closely with the construction logistics industry to improve the coordination, collaboration and sustainability of deliveries.

The Directory of London Construction Consolidation Centres is the latest product of this work and identifies consolidation centres in and around the Capital, which demonstrate safe systems of work.

It will help to improve the safety, efficiency and planning of deliveries as these consolidation centres can combine and coordinate ‘just-in time’ deliveries. The efficiency of deliveries is improved, which in turn reduces congestion and delays.

Construction in the Capital is vital to keep the city’s boom continuing. London’s increasing population – set to reach 10 million by the 2030s – and strong economic growth has created a huge demand for new homes, business premises’ and transport infrastructure.

By working with partners and stakeholders the construction industry can manage its logistics creatively to meet this demand safely and efficiently.
