Maintaining First Aid Kits

Ensuring that safety procedures and resources are up to date is essential.

Safety procedures should be implemented and communicated appropriately to the workforce, with all first aid kits kept fully stocked with medical provisions up to date, to ensure the best care for your employees.

Below is an example of how a large site ensured the maintenance of their first aid kits:

  • Due to the size of the site, a number of operatives were trained a first aiders, however, one principle first aider was responsible for ensuring the first aid boxes were always replenished;
  • To assist this process first aid kits were fitted with a breakable plastic tag when they were checked;
  • This meant that it was easy to see in the future whether they needed restocking or not.
