Measuring Energy Usage

At Seaton Beach development site, Classic Builders have developed a software programme to practically demonstrate the impact and carbon footprint of water and energy use to the workforce in terms of everyday use.

The site manager used the software which was produced on a spreadsheet and then introduced this to the site and the company fed in energy and waste usage to show in a very efficient manner to the workforce what the results mean in everyday terms.

It found that energy use was comparable to a car driving non-stop for 11 days, or flying a 737 for 13 minutes. It also found that the water use equated to 104 baths and 14,072 pints of beer.

The site used this information to prepare charts and diagrams to illustrate waste recycling, water and energy use together with the site carbon footprint. These are displayed across site for all workers to access.
