Mental Health First Aid Training for Local Residents

This contractor ran an accredited Mental Health First Aid training course in collaboration with their scaffolding subcontractor. Members of the local community and organisations were invited to attend with the aim of targeting those who could make best use of the knowledge and skills they have learnt to support the wider community. The two day accredited course enables attendees to recognise warning signs of mental ill health and develops their skills and confidence to guide someone towards finding the right professional support.

By offering this course to locals outside of the project who were from a range of backgrounds the message will be heard that talking about mental health is beneficial and will hopefully encourage people to seek further help if they are struggling.

They trained four people in their first session, and have seen a huge interest for this training in the local community, so have plans to be able to run similar sessions in future to support more local residents.
