Mental Health of our Workforce

Seddon Construction Ltd recently lost one of our valued young painters Jordan Bibby to suicide and have launched an initiative for employees to be open and honest, and to speak out about mental health problems that they are currently facing or have faced in the past; all videos can be found on Seddon’s Twitter @yourseddon.

At site level on Park Road we had an open discussion with our workforce on what we could do to make an impact towards their mental health and wellbeing.

A popular suggestion was a separate area as a chill out zone that our workforce can come to chill-out, de-stress and relax when they felt they needed to. The site team set about ensuring that this would happen and have created a space with separate table, colourful chairs and its own kitchen area complete with sink, fridges, microwave, toaster, kettle and even a coffee machine with a water dispenser on order.

All operatives have been made aware of “The chill out zone” and its purpose. All new operatives and visitors to site are advised that they are free to use this area as and when they require it.
