MEWP Mate

The partition sub-contractor was having problems being able to safely fit plasterboard at height from MEWPs.

The standard equipment provided with the MEWPs was able to secure the plasterboard sheets for hoisting into position along with the installer.

The difficulty arose when the installer attempted to release the sheet and safely fit it at high level – it became an unsafe operation.

A new system adapting the MEWPs was successfully designed and trialled on site, and the sub-contractor then patented the system and arranged for suppliers to manufacture and supply MEWPs with the new adaptation.

The plasterboard sheets at high level have now been hoisted and fitted safely.
