MEWP Safety Procedures

To encourage best practice and refresh Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) operatives understanding of rescuing a stranded colleague from height, we attach International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) rescue documentation onto all MEWPs on site.

The IPAF is a not for profit member organisation that promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide.

This enables operatives to see a step by step procedure of how to lower operatives safely to the ground in case of an emergency.

We also remind them during induction to ensure the controls are not trapped against the working face.

This method helps to prepare for the successful handling of potential emergencies.
