Minimising the risk of skin cancer

Morganstone recognises that those working in the construction industry are at a high risk of developing occupational cancers such as skin and lung cancer and as such takes a proactive approach to support the health and wellbeing of its employee’s and sub-contractors.

Whilst it has been Morganstone’s long-standing policy to include sun cream dispensers in their WC’s as standard, Morganstone went one step further with a campaign to further reinforce the need for site operatives to wear suntan cream to reduce their risk to UV radiation. Morganstone recognised that the sun cream dispensers that were placed within the WC’s were being under-utilised on their developments and wanted to further highlight the need for site operatives to use sun protection.

To tackle this Morganstone introduced posters and external sun cream dispensers that were placed directly outside the welfare facilities canteen door to serve as a constant reminder to use sun cream and make it as quick, easy and simple as possible for site operatives use sun-protection. As a result of this introduction Morganstone has noticed an increase in the use of sun cream across all of their sites and have incorporated this into the site set up procedure for future sites.
