Modern Slavery Training Initiative

Unseen is a UK charity that provide safehouses and support in the community for survivors of trafficking and modern slavery. They also run the UK Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline and work with individuals, communities, business, governments, other charities and statutory agencies to stamp out slavery.

Unseen empowers individuals and organisations to combat exploitation with expert training and creative awareness-raising activities. In 2023, they trained 22,000 individuals from over 100 organisations.

This contractor has been working with Unseen to deliver paid CPD training to staff and the supply chain and all funds raised through Unseen’s training directly supports the Helpline and survivor support services. 16 people on site have taken the course, which brings the total donated from site to £800. They then took this training and held their own site presentation using Unseen’s resources for all of the supply chain onsite and encouraged all to access the full package for themselves.

With at least 28 million people trapped in forced labour around the world, it is difficult for any business to be risk free, but working with Unseen UK would allow construction companies to reduce their risks and be a leader in preventing worker exploitation, by helping to address the hidden risk of modern slavery and exploitation within supply chains.

There are training packages suitable for all sizes of organisations and a variety of options including in person, online and include role specific and unique content to help improve ethical standards, reputational strength, regulatory compliance, supply chain transparency, workforce well being and staff retention and overall builds a more responsible, resilient and sustainable future.
