Morning Exercises for Construction Workers

Skanska have developed the ‘Injury Free Environment’ initiative, to get workers focused on safety.

Employees in the construction industry are often exposed to physically heavy workloads and tough conditions and the industry generally suffers from high levels of absenteeism.

With this in mind, Skanska encouraged more than 600 construction workers in Nashville, to take part in a 10 minute stretch and flex workout at 7am, to get their blood circulating for the start of their working day.

The daily exercise routine was developed with the help of a professional trainer, to benefit construction workers and warm up cold muscles before the day started.

To begin with, some workers were sceptical, but with time the majority of workers enjoyed themselves and felt the benefits.

As well as giving all levels of the workforce the opportunity to come together before the working day begins, Skanska also found that the workforce was productive, energetic and that there was a decrease in the number of soft tissue injuries recorded.
