Mova M8 Traffic Signal Control Strategy

On the A630 College Road Roundabout Junction in Rotherham, the latest MOVA M8 signal control technology has been specified to replace the existing control.

This is the very latest traffic light system and is believed to be the first use in a temporary situation to manage traffic more efficiently during the roadworks.

The main safety and user benefits are:

  • MOVA is more efficient than Vehicle Actuated control systems, it has also been shown to improve safety through reduction of “red-light running” and shunt accidents at junctions.
  • Road user delay savings are typically between 10-20% but even greater improvements have been recorded.
  • Flexible bus priority facilities that allow buses to be given different degrees of priority to better suit the individual circumstances.
