Multigrab

The contractor has used ‘MultiGrab’ to handle and place the heritage oak timber-work inside the theatre.

The timber itself is cut to very fine tolerances and requires delicate handling. The Multigrab is a hydraulic lifting clamp that has been designed for use with mini spider cranes and is able to lift to a capacity of 750kg.

This clamp is also the perfect option for picking, rotating and placing steel, pipe and ducting both horizontally and vertically.

The 360° rotation and vertical movement of the MultiGrab clamp allowed loads to be picked up from the ground and placed in to position. It is ideal for working in restricted or hard to reach areas such as within the theatre concrete box which contained a steel ceiling thus restricting using a traditional crane methodology.

The MultiGrab is controlled via a cordless remote and comes with an integrated safety system for optimum control and safe placement of the oak timbers at all times.
