Mush to Bloom

The project team has developed a new environmental initiative – ‘Mush to Bloom’ which is a much loved workshop by kids and encourages creativity and innovation whilst conserving the environment.

This workshop makes use of post consumer paper which is broken down by placing it into a bowl of water and pulped into a ‘mush’ before being moulded into different wildlife shapes and embedded with wildflower seeds.

Key benefits include:

  • Bright blooming flowers, reawakening wildlife
  • 100% biodegradable
  • Reduces waste
  • Encourages biodiversity, hive of activity -attracting bugs, bacteria and birds
  • Helps out pollinators
  • Educating children in a fun and engaging way to understand the benefits of up-cycling and the need for biodiversity for a sustainable future

The rationale behind this workshop is that 1/3 of food we consume each day is pollinated by animals with an estimated cost of £1.8 billion per year for farmers in the UK to manually pollinate their crops, emphasising the importance of bees. Also this initiative educates the community in becoming more environmentally aware, reducing carbon footprint
