Name the Tunnelling Machine Competition

As part of the works programme there was tunnelling on site, which was an excellent opportunity for the project to collaborate with a school. In partnership with the client, NI Water, they organised a ‘name the tunnelling machine’ competition with a local primary school.

The Key Stage 2 pupils came up with the name ‘Timmy the Tunneller’, which was then displayed on the machine alongside their accompanying artwork.

The winner and runners up all received book vouchers. The winner was also invited to site on the day of the tunnelling machine launch which was also attended by the Minister for Infrastructure.
