NFC Medical Information and Emergency Contact Details Tag

The site is trialling an NFC chip, which can be located in a wrist band (for use by visitors), card, helmet tag or fob for operatives. This is a data storage device which is being used on the site for any medical information and as well as emergency contact details.

By uploading this information to the chip using a tag writer App the idea is in the event of an emergency first responders can immediately access any medical information by placing their own smart phones near to the chip device.

This is achieved by the chip drawing energy from the phone which allows transmission of the information. All the uploaded emergency data will then appear.

The primary benefit of this is that it is an immediate source of information and more secure than ICE tags. The most common way the site is using this with the workforce is to attach a chip tag located at the rear of operatives hard hats.
