Nottingham City Homes – ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day.’

Nottingham City Homes (NCH) celebrated ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’ in April by inviting employees to bring in their children for a fun-packed day!

Eighteen children, ranging from 5 to 16 years old, took part in the day, which involved a range of activities.

Each child was accompanied by their parent or carer for the start of their working day, and given some tasks and games to teach them about that area of work.

Throughout the day children took part in mini workshops at NCH’s dedicated training centre where they had the chance to try their hand at a range of trades including painting, plastering, plumbing, joinery, bricklaying and electrical work, with guidance and tuition from some of the qualified tradespeople and apprentices.

The children also had a guided tour of the Lenton regeneration development, where they were given an overview of the site. They then met the site manager from contractor Keepmoat, who talked about the development and showed them some time-lapse footage of the project, so they could see how a construction development works.

‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’ is an internationally celebrated event which aims to empower young men and women to think about their future career.

NCH hopes that it will give the children an opportunity to see Nottingham City Homes as a great place to work.
