We at Graham-Bam Healthcare Partnership have a health promotion calendar that is developed for the full year.
As part of this promotion we look at and provide an increased focus on mental health taking into account the increased levels of mental health issues in Northern Ireland. We bring in various charities and agencies to provide information via talks, presentations and drop-in services to the full workforce (now averaging 400 employees)
We have a trained counsellor within the site team who delivers inductions. At inductions, the health promotion boards and displays provided by the visiting agencies are identified and the service is promoted, this person informs all at the induction of the open door policy Graham-Bam now have in place and how to seek assistance if required.
This team member is a trusted person who is empathetic and understanding to concerns that are raised when persons in need approach, this team member knows how to address issues and the person attending know that all information disclosed is strictly confidential.
There is a private room available and during these conversations permission is sought to arrange assistance on their behalf at the time with them present. This help can be through sign-posting the person in need to various agencies who can help and arranging meetings and leave for them to attend. We also follow up to ensure that the persons involved have sought and gained the assistance needed.
