On Site Counsellor

Due to the recent loss of the project manager in this project, the contractor is providing a free grief counselling service to help those affected by the death. The grief counsellor has visited site once a month for the last two months, and every time they have been fully booked out for the day.

The demand for this type of service has surpassed initial expectations with not only contractor staff taking time out to talk with the counsellor, but subcontractors too. The counsellor is not only there to talk about grief but is happy to talk with anyone who feels they may need other types of support, such as stress, mental health and general wellbeing.

Due to high demand and positive effect on site personnel, the contractor has made the decision to continue this valuable service for the duration of the project. Four of the main subcontractors working on site have also noticed the value of these sessions and have offered to each fund a counselling session on site.

Although it is entirely confidential, there will be chance for those people who use this service to give anonymous feedback as to the reasons why they have visited the counsellor. This will help to inform the contractor of any further need for different types of support, and also to see if it would be beneficial to use on other projects.
