In a job like construction, everyone needs time to unwind. This is helped when a site actively encourages its workforce to live a healthy lifestyle by both providing an exercise space and offering incentives for operatives to get involved.

See the examples below for how one site achieved this:

  • Provided a bespoke temporary gym facility on site, equipped with high-quality machines.
  • Used the gym as the basis of a ’round the world’ challenge, where site personnel took part in team rowing, cycling and running.
  • Operatives were sponsored to take part in the challenge, and all the proceeds went to a local homeless charity.

In addition to providing an exercise space, this site encourages its operatives to use the facilities and engage with the local community by using the gym as the basis for a sporting and fundraising challenge. The charity angle of the event both encouraged workers to live a healthy lifestyle and built connections between the site and local community.
