Balfour Beatty welcomed attendees to the build of the Aberdeen City Secondary School, Lochside Academy, as part of the national Open Doors Week.
Participants were welcomed on site by Project Lead Martin MacLennan who provided a short presentation on the overall project, the supply chain and the progress of the project to date.
Participants were provided with an insight into the numerous skills and trades which are required on a large scale construction project and had an opportunity to ask questions about the project.
Groups were then escorted on an onsite tour of the build, gaining an external and internal insight into the project as well as a birds eye view from the future art classes which will sit on the top level of the new school.
During the morning and afternoon sessions, 8 people participated in the event and feedback from the sessions was extremely positive. 100% of participants that completed the event evaluation rated the open day as 5/5 and positive feedback was received from all that took part in the sessions.
Martin MacLennan, Project Lead said:
“It’s great to see such enthusiasm and interest in the Construction industry here locally, a great chance to engage with the community and explain our journey here on this project thus far and opening their eyes to the vast range of operations and activities that are a core part of modern day construction.”
Feedback from participants at the Open Doors event was great with one person saying:
“This was my first site tour, and it was great to get some knowledge on how the site works”
