Open Doors Virtual Visit

Each year we take part in Open Doors, a national event which offers young people and people across the country the chance to visit our sites and learn more about careers in construction. As part of open doors we work with schools to offer students the chance to take part in a routes into construction workshop, followed by a Q&A and tour of our site.

This year we were ready and rearing to go with all our school visit slots fully booked out, however coronavirus struck leaving us unable to conduct physical visits on site. We were determined however to ensure coronavirus did not stop us from delivering the sessions.

Our social value team, site team and marketing team worked together to develop a digital solution to enable all the students access to a webinar format of the Routes into Construction Workshop, Q&A and a virtual site tour delivered by our management trainees.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
