Open Doors

Open Doors is an industry initiative delivered to offer young people and those looking for a change of career an exclusive opportunity to look behind the site hoardings of ‘live’ construction sites, showcasing what construction looks like and the diverse range of opportunities available. Run annually, Open Doors allows the public to visit participating sites across the UK, as well as offices, factories and other facilities.

This exciting initiative is hosted by Build UK in partnership with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Building, Careers and Enterprise Company, CITB, CSCS, Department for Education, Department for Work and Pensions, Go Construct, HS2, and Kier.

Taking part in Open Doors is a great way for the construction industry to engage with the public and communities surrounding building sites.

With construction facing a severe skills shortage and over 216,800 construction jobs to be created across the UK by 2025*, Open Doors is also an excellent way of inspiring people to choose a career in the sector and take the next steps to progress into the industry.
