Overcoming safety challenges

Due to the nature of the construction industry, all projects have their obstacles.

Innovative methods should be devised to overcome these problems while also ensuring the safety of the workforce.

The project posed a number of safety challenges, mainly due to the unique shaped building with sloping lines and curves and over 5500 different glazing panels.

The site implemented the following measures to overcome these challenges:

  • A hydraulic cranking screen was developed, with in-situ sliding panels and platforms. This was the first time in the UK that a multi-directional adjustable screen both in vertical and plan with concertina expanding as floor size increases, has been used.
