Periscopes for the community to view site works

Is it important that local residents feel involved in a project and are able to track progress, in order to foster positive community relations.

See the examples below for how one site achieved this:

  • As the development is immediately adjacent to a primary school, the site team decided to make it easy for the children to safely watch what is happening on site.
  • The team constructed three various height periscopes using 100mm PVC pipework (two bends, straight pipe and preformed mirrors).
  • One periscope is located at the external corner of the site for use by passers-by and two are located in the schoolyard fixed to the timber fence.
  • The periscopes have been very popular and well-used by the community.
