Pool Commissioning Water Recycling

During a commissioning meeting with our specialist pool trade contractor to discuss water management, a water recycling system was devised and staggered leak test programme. Due to the proximity and similar size of townhouse swimming pools, it was decided that for the initial leak test, water would be pumped from one pool to the next to save water.

As a result, the commissioning activities for leak testing will only use the contents of the largest pool, plus a small amount to top up where some water is spilt. No chemicals are added to the water for this initial test, but a discharge licence will be used for the final pool as a precautionary measure.

It is not normal to have multiple pools simultaneously ready for testing, and particularly not normal to have multiple adjacent pools in a residential development in the UK. As a result, the team have aligned the programme of completing the pools to allow for greater efficiencies with testing and as such the water saving is one positive output.

Therefore it saves a considerable amount of water compared to a conventional approach of filling each pool and discharging. It also saves costs and unnecessary water discharge volumes.

The process takes roughly the same time as conventional methods  but saved 625.2m3 of water.
