On Project Rome (Glanbia) Portlaoise a Lean Construction Method was adopted in the formation of process manholes.
Precast rings are first placed around the manhole which eliminates the need for timber shuttering as the ring acts a permanent shutter.
This method saves on materials and time and prevents the generation of waste. It is also safer because operatives do not have to spend time in an open excavation shuttering the walls of the drain.
