ProCleanSorb Peat Filtration Bund

The Project Team has introduced a creative and proactive approach to managing potential fuel spills in their refuelling storage area. The team has constructed peat bunding around the fuel storage and incorporated a new product called Premium ProCleanSorb Granules from Pro-Earth within the bunding.

The granules are a natural, renewable, sustainable source made from Peat Sphagnum Moss. These hydrophobic granules absorb almost all hydrocarbons and chemicals while repelling water, making them ideal for effective spill management. The bund application allows excess water to drain off or evaporate while fully containing the contaminant.

ProCleanSorb is a totally natural, sustainable and renewable spill management product. It is non-leaching, absorbing contaminants to prevent environmental release and supporting the natural biodegradation of toxins. It adsorbs heavy metals like lead and zinc, filters contaminated water, and reduces risks from flammable liquid spills.

The bund system designed by the project team filters any rainwater mixed in with the contaminant and allows it to run off or evaporate, while absorbing and capturing almost all hydrocarbons, heavy metals, chemicals & vapours. If a spill does occur, having been contained by the bund, the granules can also be employed to absorb and remove the contaminant within the bund.
