Project Coronavirus Committee

At the Broadway project, we are committed to ensuring we are managing coronavirus on site to the absolute best of our abilities. With this in mind, we have set up a coronavirus committee consisting of the Project Director, Deputy Project Director, Construction Director, Senior Construction Manager, Logistics Manager, Perimeter and Security Manager, Senior Office Manager, Health and Safety Manager and Health and Safety Administrator.

The team meets every two weeks and communicates regularly on a dedicated WhatsApp group, to discuss:

  • Government guidelines
  • Ensuring teams are maintaining social distancing
  • Creating a Tool Box Talk about coronavirus
  • Managing office and welfare changes
  • Mitigation measures for our site
  • Vulnerable members
  • Key supply chains and imported materials
  • How best practices can be incorporated on site
  • Forward thinking and planning for potential rises in cases
  • Supporting our workforce and their needs.

We discuss how coronavirus impacts against critical health and safety risks normally found on construction sites, looking at and discussing with key members of the workforce on how to go about these activities on a safe manner.

We review site plans and actions every two weeks and try to evolve these into a new normal way of working with the least possible impact whilst keeping everyone safe. We have also designed a coronavirus leaflet the has been handed out and the team is in charge of the ‘Multiplex Coronavirus Early Outbreak Management Procedure’.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
