Promoting Lighthouse Club’s Free Mental Health and Wellbeing Training Course

Working in the construction industry is one of the deadliest professions in the UK, not just because of the dangers of heavy machinery; the suicide rate for construction workers is more than three times the national average for men.

On this project, they are committed to assisting their workforce as much as possible. They have 15 Mental Health First Aiders and have created an A5 Mental health flyer, providing contact number for the project’s Mental Health First Aiders and other contact numbers, such as the Construction Industry Helpline. The subject is also discussed in DABS meetings on a daily basis by bringing up tips or information.

Adding to that, they have been promoting the Lighthouse Club’s free Mental Health and Wellbeing training course with their subcontractors. The Lighthouse Club is a charity that provides mental, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families in UK and Ireland. The contractor has also informed operatives that they can if they wish to do so donate via the Lighthouse Club’s website, to financially help to maintain the great work provided by the Lighthouse Club.
