Promoting Safety News

Sites should continuously promote good news stories and achievements, to generate a positive image for the industry.

Promoting safety news helps to reinforce safety initiatives and involve the workforce – as well as portraying a positive image of construction.

Below is an example of one strategy that sites have undertaken to promote safety news:

  • Postcards were produced for particular project achievements such as 5m hours without a RIDDOR. The numbers 5,000,000 were formed from site personnel photographed on site, from above;
  • Individuals living away from home circled themselves and posted the cards back home. This is not only a positive news story, but also a great personal achievement that operatives are able to share with loved ones.
