Protecting operatives from potential risks on the road

The safety of your workforce is of paramount importance at every stage of the project.

Due to the nature of the construction industry, work is often undertaken in unavoidably dangerous environments, such as highways.

It is therefore vital that measures are implemented to minimise the hazards posed.

This site has done this by doing the following:

  • Bulkhead lighting on the hoarding needed regular maintenance which required operatives to be on the outside of the hoarding and on the edge of a road;
  • To eliminate this risk, the bulkhead lights were mounted on hinged hatches which meant they could be maintained from the inside of the hoarding.
  • This approach meant that maintenance was carried out safely and there was no interruption to external traffic.
