Protecting the Workforce from Dust

Mace’s Greenwich Peninsula Upper Riverside team continued with our sustained effort to safeguard our workforce from works that generated dust.

As part of this the team procured full head and face mask breathing systems for working in higher dust exposure areas. This builds upon the team’s previous efforts which included conducting training sessions, using portable vacuum backpacks and enforcing Class M filters as a minimum for all trades.

The full head masks are pictured being utilised by logistics operatives during dust removal.

The advantages of the face mask included:

  • The helmet provided a constant circulation of air which adjusts to their breathing.
  • The face visor never steams up as they would when wearing a face mask and safety glasses and gives them further protection to the face.
  • It is better in warmer situations as it circulates fresh air constantly keep them cool.

The operatives enjoyed being part of this trial; they were approached by other operatives working on site and they enjoyed explaining the new features and benefits of the helmet to other operatives.
