Providing for multi-language environments

A diverse workforce requires an extra level of consideration in order to maintain a fair, equal and effectively functioning site.

The challenges of a diverse workforce can come in various forms.

It is important that all operatives can communicate and integrate with each other for safety reasons, as well as being able to ensure the employee is able to work to their full potential.

The examples below show how a site met the requirements of a multi-lingual diverse workforce:

  • The site produced an exceptional phrase book in various languages for operatives;
  • The phrases book included important construction and safety messages that were required to be understood;
  • English language training was provided on site;
  • Also, pre-existing mental health first aid training was extended to all sub-contractors.
