All slingers/ signallers on site have been issued with ‘push-pull’ poles. The poles are telescopic and extend to two metres in length. The end of the pole has a large and small ‘pulling-in’ hook as well as a large ‘pushing-out’ hook. They can be used to grab chains and tag lines, and rotate/ re-position loads prior to them being loaded.

Benefits of using the poles include:

  • Reduced need for hand contact with suspended loads thus reducing the risk of entrapment.
  • The pole end can be used at full extension (approx. 2m) to retrieve tag lines hanging vertically without a load handler having to go too close to a suspended load.

The poles are heavy duty extending anodised aluminium tubing telescopic poles, with a locking system and grey plastic fittings. The pole slides out to the desired length and is locked into place by simply twisting upper pole until it tightens into locked position (closed 123cm, and fully extended 210cm).
