Both Robertson Construction and Careys Civil Engineering have developed an innovative checking system for plant safety. With the steady increase in plant and mechanical equipment being used on site, ensuring each item was properly maintained, tested and driven was easily overlooked.

Certificates of compliance accompany the plant, giving all relevant details of testing, dates of validity and more. In addition, daily operator checks are conducted and reports maintained. However, the site team considered this did not go far enough, so they loaded all the following information onto a unique QR code for each piece of equipment.

The team then enlarged each QR code and laminated versions are attached to each piece of equipment, giving the operators quick and easy access to all the relevant information.

Any smartphone or tablet can gain access to the checks via this enlarged QR code displayed in laminated form on the machine. This is also amplified by the certificate expiry date being displayed under the QR code for easy reading.
