Recreating a Construction Site for School Children

Sites should actively create a positive impression and proactively encourage children to consider a career within the construction industry.

Contributing to the local community by supporting and helping residents, businesses and schools can leave a positive impression.

Below is an example of how sites have proactively engaged with local school children:

  • An active children’s building site was created with fences, signs and a supply of infant high viz and hardhats;
  • It was managed by the teachers as an active construction site;
  • The school provided a supply of large building blocks;
  • The site manager provided trade experience days using the children’s site.

This not only enabled children to experience elements of the construction industry, but it also highlighted health and safety issues to the children.
