Recycling Tyres in Northern Ireland
To deal with a small number of waste tyres responsibly, the contractor investigated options for reuse of tyres that alternatively would have gone to waste disposal.
They identified R4 Limited, which is Northern Ireland’s 1st registered waste disposal site for the recycling and recovery of waste tyres.
They have achieved accreditation to ISO14001 the Internationally recognised Environmental Management System.
Tyres can be reused for bank stabilisation, flood defence and recreational use such as construction of bike ramps etc.
The tyres have not been utilised within the project but may go on to be used on other projects throughout Northern Ireland.
