Reducing Idling Time using Telemetry

The project managers for this contractor have, using the plant’s telemetry system, been able to monitor the idling time of plant on their respective projects.

The company now uses data from the plant’s telemetry system, to generate a quarterly report showing the idling time of company operated plant on nine sites across the Midland area, project managers can now compare the performance of their plant with that of their fellow project managers.

A target has been set to reduce idling by 12.5%. The quarterly report also shows the fuel used whilst the vehicle is idling. The project has managed to reduce its telehandler’s idling time from 50% in April to 30% in June.
