Reducing energy usage on heating

Construction sites need to be aware of their impact on the environment and do all they can to minimise their energy usage.

See the examples below for how one project building a halls of residence addressed this:

  • Installed a blower heater system connected to the main heating source of the university and linked to the new rising service supplies of new buildings.
  • This was used to heat the site buildings and provide drying out facilities.
  • The system removes the need for heaters with associate gas or electric supplies and, as it is connected to the main heating circuits, water is recycled.
  • This process substantially reduced the site’s energy usage and costs.

This system ensured that the site was heated in a more energy-efficient way, and reduced the site’s impact on the environment.
