Reducing Transport Emissions

Throughout your project, careful consideration needs to be given to the environmental impact your activities could be having and where possible, your carbon footprint should be reduced.

Sustainability should be carefully addressed, to avoid negative impact on our natural environment.

Below are examples of how sites have contributed to reducing transport emissions:

  • Five objectives were identified during ‘Sustainability week’, one notable objective was a competition between the workforce for highest MPG recorded over the week;
  • A map of staff locations and a monthly report on fuel saved in green travel plans, was continually updated and promoted;
  • A map was provided outlining the various modes of public transport available and located in the near vicinity of the site. The plan was displayed on site and sent to all new sub-contractors, the professional team and visitors to encourage sustainable journeys to site.
